FanUpdate
FanUpdate is a thorough update script with comment functionality not unlike WordPress or other scripts in the blogging field. The difference is the level of bloat; i.e. the lack of it, compared to other contenders available. It is light and reasonably compact, and seems to be easy to integrate. Apart from the use of "SELECT * FROM" instead of selecting individual fields for maximum efficiency (personal preference, perhaps), I see no cause for concern in terms of security or otherwise.
UPDATE 2009-09-24: An SQL injection flaw has been discovered in FanUpdate 2.2.1. Although this only affects those running with register_globals turned on, it is advisable to apply the simple fix anyway.
Verdict: Good; I found this script suitable.
