Recommended PHP Scripts

At a time where every man and his dog are releasing scripts for their 2 minutes of fame, it's hard to tell what's secure and what's not. Here we've listed our favourite scripts and where you can go to download them. For each type of script, we've listed a MySQL version and a separate flat-file (no database) version to cover every eventuality. All of these scripts are free!

Ask & Answer Scripts

PHPAskIt is a MySQL and PHP-based question and answer script designed to integrate full "FAQ" functionality into your website. It's easy to install and quick to customise; with categories, question permalinks and searching, an AJAX administration panel and more: you can't go wrong with PHPAskIt.

Guestbook Scripts

BellaBook is a small and simple PHP guestbook. It works using "flat files" — that means no need to fiddle with complex MySQL databases. It has been crafted to provide a feature packed user feedback system with an easy-to-edit coding structure; using CSS to control it all. It features spam block, IP banning, optional CAPTCHA and more.

Fanlisting Scripts

BellaBuffs is a simple flat-file script designed for the PHP beginner. If you can write your e-mail address and decide between "yes" and "no" for a few settings, you can use this script. This small and versatile script can help you manage your fanlisting, clique or web listing/directory members without the hassle of updating pages manually or having to fiddle with complex MySQL databases.

vs.hive is a lightweight, PHP/MySQL based fanlisting, webring and clique management script with search engine friendly URLs and optional CAPTCHA/Akismet support for preventing spam. There are two distributions of this script, one 'multiple site' version that allows a collective of fanlistings, and one 'single site' version for singular fanlistings and cliques.
